				Harry Donovan (Jason Patric) est doué, très doué pour la peinture. Il a réussi à écouler de parfaits faux chefs-d'oeuvre de petits maîtres. Mais il se met à jouer dans la cour des grands : il va réaliser un "Rembrandt" plus vrai que nature. Voyage obligé à Amsterdam, inspiration, croquis, sa quête le mêne à Paris où, sur le quai Montebello, en face Notre-Dame, il reçoit un café malencontreusement chahuté par devinez qui ? Quand une voix chantante nous sort "Excusez-moi" en Français dan le texte, puis continue naturellement ses explications en anglais, c'est naturellement… Irène Jacob. Elle est Marieke van den Broeck, travaille au laboratoire du Musée où l'on restaure un Rembrandt qui a tapé dans l'oeil d'Harry. Il n'y a pas que le tableau qui l'a accroché d'ailleurs. Nous assistons ensuite à la création dans le détail du vrai-faux Rembrandt, puis, comme ces affaires là tournent toujours mal, Harry doit fuir ensuite a travers l'Europe, suite à un meurtre qu'il n'a pas commis. Nous retrouverons donc Irène Jacob dans l'Orient Express, attachée par une vraie paire de menottes à Harry le fugitif !)… Capturé et jugé, nous avons droit à une scène de tribunal intéressante. De quoi l'accuse t-on au juste? d'avoir peint un vrai ou un faux tableau ? Irène/Marieke vient y plaider. Malheureusement pour elle on a retrouvé un petit mot comme on en laisse un matin après une rencontre, sans penser aux conséquences : "I have to go… You were wonderful.To R.J.R. Harry Donovan (Jason Patric) is gifted, very gifted for painting. It succeeded in painting perfect masterpieces… of minor old artists. But he starts a new and dangerous game: making a "true Rembrandt", more true than Rembrandt! He travels to Amsterdam, gets inspiration, sketches, then go to Paris where, on Quai Montebello, opposite Notre-Dame, where someone pushes his cup of coffee on a drawing (guess who?). Yes: you can hear the singing voice of a woman:"Excusez-moi" (in French)… then she explains in English naturally, naturally she is Irene Jacob. Her role is Marieke van den Broeck, who works at the Museum laboratory, where one restores Rembrandt , which catchs Harry's attention (Marieke, too). There is not only the table which hung it besides. We then attend creation in detail of truth-false Rembrandt, but Harry's business turn bad, and he must fly through Europe, because of a murder which he did not make. We will thus find Irene Jacob in the East Express train, attached by a (true) pair of shackles to Harry, the fugitive one!). He is captured and judged, then comes some scenes in a Court. But… did Harry painted a truth or a false painting? Irene/Marieke comes to plead there. Unfortunately, one found a small paper she leaves in hotel room for Harry, not thinking about consequences: "I have to go. You were wonderful.To R.J.R. (for Rembrandt)" .
