				Claude, à la suite d'une dispute avec son amie, incendie accidentellement leur habitation. Après la prison et les reproches de ses parents, il subit ceux de Béatrice De Lucia, une jeune Française et sa fille adoptive (cambodgienne de 5 ans) qui avait trouvé refuge dans la maison. Claude se sent responsable et, tout en cachant son implication dans l'accident, il aide Béatrice… qui saute sur l'occasion. Béatrice affronte aussi des problèmes de Française immigrée. Ce n'est pas "Green Card" (puisqu'elle dit l'avoir perdu dans l'incendie du départ), mais… Le premier film que tourna Irène Jacob en langue anglaise : une comédie jugée charmante… mais aussi… confuse par la critique. Mais est-ce bien une comédie, et est -elle vraiment confuse? Irène est charmante ("Of course!" crie t-elle en sortant du bain à demi nue pour se présenter au parents de Claude). Les parents en question sont, comment vous dire, indescriptibles ! "Irene Jacob has a real gift for comedic timing and an uncanny ability to project emotion!" "We have found a protector , with a roof over our head…"		"Trusting Beatrice" aka "Claude" 1990 - 86 min - Cindy Lou Johnson - USA Irène Jacob est Béatrice De Lucia. Avec aussi : Mark Evan Jacobs, Steve Buscemi… Claude burnt his house accidentally. He has to suffer prison and his parents' reproaches, those of Beatrice De Lucia too: she is a young Frenchwoman who had found refuge in the house (now destroyed) with her adoptive daughter (5 years old). Claude feels responsible and, while his implication in the accident, he decides to help Beaatrice… who catches the occasion. Beatrice (Irene Jacob) faces immigrant problems. (She says she have lost her Green Card in the fire, but may be she hadn't)."Trusting Beatrice" was the first Irene Jacob's film in English language: a comedy considered to be charming but also confused by criticism. Well, "Beatrice" is a comedy, no doubt about this, really…confused? Irene is charming: "Of co[u]rse!", she shout with a french accent, leaving the bath (half naked) to meet Claude's parents. These are -how can I say- incredible!
